Here’s what you need to know:


Before you vote, get registered and get ready.

Check your registration or get registered in one of the following ways: 

ONLINE: You can register right here on our site through Rock the Vote or at the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website.

BY MAIL: Download and print a voter registration form.

IN PERSON: Visit the Election Commissioner’s office during normal business hours.

Know how and when to vote

Protect the health of yourself and others. Vote by mail!

Voting by mail in Nebraska is easy and safe. Just complete an Early Voting Form and that will tell election officials to mail you a ballot when it's time. Track your ballot by visiting Nebraska's Voter Information Lookup website.

Early Voting Deadlines:

  • October 21, 2022, for the General

If you're mailing your ballot, do so before

  • November 1st, 2022, for the General

If you're dropping your ballot in a drop box, do so before

  • November 8, 2022, at 8 p.m. for the General

First: Request your vote by mail ballot!

Option 1: 

Download and print an application from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website

Fill out the application and sign it.

Mail it or email a picture of your application to your County Election Commission. Find your County Election Commission's contact information.

Option 2: 

Make your own application to email your county Election Commissioner! 

On a blank piece of paper write: your name, the address where you’re registered, your mailing address (if different), date of birth, phone number, email, and your signature.

Remember to write clearly and to sign it before emailing! 

Email a picture of your application to your County Election Commission. Find your County Election Commission's contact information.

Next: Return your vote by mail ballot!

Fill out your ballot. IMPORTANT: Be sure to sign the back of the return envelope. This will make sure your vote is counted!

Mail it back to your County Election Commission with a regular postage stamp.

Or

Place your ballot in an official drop box by 8 p.m. CST and 7 p.m. MST on General Election Day on November 8, 2022. Drop box locations will be sent with your ballot. 

In-person Voting on Election Day

Polls will be open on General Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. MST). If you are in line when polls close, stay in line — you are still allowed to vote!

Running into trouble confirming your voter registration at your polling place? A provisional ballot allows you to cast your vote in the event that an issue arises with your registration. You can simply request a provisional ballot from a poll worker! Common reasons why a provisional ballot may be used include being registered under an old address or not returning an early voting ballot.

You can request assistance when casting your ballot in a variety of ways, including language interpretation, curbside voting, use of a ballot marking device or teletypewriter, or further in-person help. If you require assistance of any kind, let poll workers. 

Presenting ID is not required to cast your vote. You have a right to make your voice heard free from intimidation.
