Here’s what you need to know:


Before you vote, get registered and get ready.

Check your registration or get registered in one of the following ways: 

ONLINE: You can register right here on our site through Rock the Vote or at the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website.

BY MAIL: Download and print a voter registration form.

IN PERSON: Visit the Election Commissioner’s office during normal business hours.

If you register online or by mail, you need to do so before March 19th to vote in the primary election and by April 16th to vote in the general election. (For mail these are the dates your registration must be postmarked by.) You can register in person until March 26th for the primary and April 23rd for the general.

Know How and when to Vote

Protect the health of yourself and others. Vote by mail!

Voting by mail in Nebraska is easy and safe. Just complete an Early Voting Form and that will tell election officials to mail you a ballot when it's time.

Deadlines: 

Request your early ballot by

  • March 26th for the Primary
  • April 23rd for the General

If you're mailing your ballot, do so before

  • March 30th for the Primary
  • April 27th for the General

If you're dropping your ballot in the drop box, do so before

  • April 6th at 8 p.m. for the Primary
  • May 4th at 8 p.m. for the General

First: Request your vote by mail ballot!

Option 1: 

Download and print an application from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website

Fill out the application and sign it.

Mail it to the Lancaster County Election Commission* or email a picture of your application to earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov

Option 2: 

Make your own application to email to your county Election Commissioner!

On a blank piece of paper write: your name, the address where you’re registered, your mailing address (if different), date of birth, phone number, email, and your signature.

Remember to write clearly and to sign it before emailing!

Email a picture of your application to earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov.

 

Next: Return your vote by mail ballot!

Fill out your ballot. IMPORTANT: Be sure to sign the back of the return envelope. This will make sure your vote is counted!

Mail it back to the Lancaster County Election Commission*, with a regular postage stamp.

Or

Place your ballot in an official drop box by 8 p.m. CT on Primary Election Day on April 6, and General Election Day on May 4, 2021. Drop box locations will be sent with your ballot.
